Cut to Shape - Large Format Guide

This guide unlocks the secrets of setting up large format print artwork specifically designed for cutting into unique shapes. Mastering Cut Paths for Flawless Cut-to-Shape Projects
When placing orders for cut-to-shape products, it’s essential to include a designated cut path within your artwork.
The cut path serves as a guide for the laser, ensuring it follows the precise shape of the area to be cut out. This path should be created using a spot colour applied to the vector stroke (with a stroke point size of 0.1pt or higher; the higher the number, the thicker the weight of the line). Rename this spot colour to ‘CUT.’ Remember that this approach applies to cut paths needed both internally and externally within your designs.
Drill Holes
If required, drill holes need to be specified with a solid circles using the spot colour 'CUT'. A 5mm diameter hole is the minimum.
NOTE: We recommend using CMYK images in the artwork; RGB images will be converted to CMYK, which may result in a colour shift. Read more in our Colour Guide.

Creating Spot Colours
- Right-click to create a new colour swatch.
- Change the colour type to Spot.
- Label the swatch name as CUT.
- Set the colour to a shade that allows you to easily identify your cut path, such as 100% Magenta.
IMPORTANT: If you provide a cut path in CMYK instead of Spot Colour, it will be printed onto the artwork due to our automation. To avoid this error, please get in touch with our Design Team to discuss.
